I am a visual artist living and working in Espoo, Finland. I work with painting, making small watercolour paintings and larger painterly objects, as well as artist books. I work by repeatedly asking myself two questions: what to paint and how to paint. Looking for answers, I turn towards art-history.
My work evolves around art historical works and techniques that I appropriate to my practice. Important influences in recent works have been South-Asian and Persian miniature painting, frescoes from the Renaissance and spiritist painting from the early 1900s. In my artist books I play with the reproducibility of painting in print.
Together with Tuomas Linna we form Duo Malin Henrik.
